Ingredients

Scale

Beef and Protein

  • 12 oz thinly sliced flank steak or sirloin

Sauce

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce (regular or low-sodium)
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced

Vegetables

  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 1 cup optional vegetables like bell peppers, snap peas, or bok choy

Noodles

  • 8 oz egg noodles or preferred Asian-style noodles

Others

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil for stir-frying

Optional Garnishes

  • Toasted sesame seeds
  • Chili flakes or chili oil (for spice)
  • Fresh cilantro
  • Lime wedges

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Ingredients: Slice the beef thinly across the grain to ensure tenderness. Mince garlic and ginger finely, chop green onions, and prepare any optional vegetables by washing and slicing them. Set the noodles aside for cooking.
  2. Make the Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, brown sugar, minced garlic, and ginger until the sugar dissolves completely to create a balanced savory-sweet sauce.
  3. Cook the Beef: Heat vegetable oil in a large wok or skillet over medium-high heat. Add the beef in batches to avoid overcrowding. Stir-fry quickly until browned but still juicy, about 2-3 minutes per batch. Remove the cooked beef from the pan and set aside.
  4. Stir-Fry Vegetables and Noodles: Add the optional vegetables to the pan and stir-fry until they are tender-crisp. Meanwhile, cook the noodles according to package instructions until al dente, then drain. Combine the noodles with the vegetables in the pan.
  5. Combine and Coat: Return the cooked beef to the pan with the vegetables and noodles. Pour in the prepared sauce and toss everything together over the heat for 1-2 minutes until well coated and heated through. Garnish with chopped green onions before serving.

Notes

  • Thinly Slice Beef: Keep beef thin and uniform for even cooking and tenderness.
  • High Heat Stir-Fry: Use high heat and a wok or wide pan to get the best sear and avoid steaming.
  • Don’t Overcook Noodles: Cook noodles just until al dente to prevent mushiness.
  • Prepare Ingredients Ahead: Have all ingredients chopped and ready before starting to cook.
  • Adjust Sauce to Taste: Taste the sauce and adjust soy sauce or sugar according to preference.
