Ingredients

Biscuit Bombs

  • Flaky biscuit dough (store-bought or homemade) – quantity as per package or recipe to yield about 10-12 biscuits
  • Shredded mozzarella cheese – about 1 to 1 1/2 cups

Garlic Butter Coating

  • Butter – 4 tablespoons, melted
  • Garlic powder or fresh garlic – 1 teaspoon garlic powder or 2 cloves minced fresh garlic
  • Italian seasoning – 1 teaspoon
  • Salt – 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper – 1/4 teaspoon
  • Grated Parmesan cheese – 1/4 cup (optional, for sprinkling)

Optional Add-ins

  • Red pepper flakes or chopped jalapenos – pinch, for spice
  • Cheese variations (cheddar, pepper jack) – substitute as desired
  • Fresh herbs (basil, rosemary, thyme) – 1 teaspoon, chopped
  • Cooked bacon, pepperoni, or sausage pieces – 1/4 cup, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough: Separate the biscuit dough into individual pieces. Flatten each biscuit gently into a round disc to make wrapping around the cheese easier.
  2. Add the Cheese Filling: Place a generous amount of shredded mozzarella in the center of each flattened biscuit. Add any optional extras like herbs, meats, or spices atop the cheese if desired.
  3. Seal into Bombs: Carefully fold the edges of the biscuit up and around the cheese, pinching seams tightly to form a ball shape and prevent cheese leakage during baking.
  4. Make the Garlic Butter Coating: Melt butter in a bowl, then stir in garlic powder (or fresh garlic), Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper to create a flavorful coating.
  5. Coat and Bake: Brush or roll each biscuit bomb thoroughly with the garlic butter mixture. Place on a baking tray and optionally sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese on top. Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  6. Cool Before Serving: Let the biscuit bombs cool for a minute to prevent burns and allow the cheese to set slightly.

Notes

  • Use cold biscuit dough to handle easily and keep cheese from melting too soon.
  • Seal edges tightly to avoid cheese leakage during baking.
  • Brush generously with garlic butter for maximum flavor and crunch.
  • Fresh minced garlic intensifies the garlic flavor compared to powder.
  • Allow bombs to cool briefly after baking to avoid burning your mouth on hot cheese.
  • You can freeze uncooked biscuit bombs on a parchment-lined tray and bake from frozen, adding a few extra minutes.
  • Reheat leftovers in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 10 minutes to keep crust crisp.
