Ingredients

Scale

Steak and Meat

  • 1.5 pounds beef sirloin or ribeye, cut into bite-sized pieces

Liquid & Sauces

  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (optional, for searing)

Seasonings & Herbs

  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 teaspoons fresh thyme or rosemary (or a mix)
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Steak: Trim any excess fat from the steak and cut into bite-sized pieces for even cooking and tenderness.
  2. Optional Sear for Extra Flavor: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Quickly sear the steak bites until browned on all sides to lock in juices and enhance flavor. This step is optional but recommended.
  3. Combine Ingredients in the Crockpot: Place the steak bites into the slow cooker along with minced garlic, beef broth, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, fresh herbs, salt, and pepper. Stir gently to evenly combine flavors.
  4. Slow Cook to Perfection: Cover and cook on low for 3 to 4 hours, or on high for 1.5 to 2 hours. The low and slow method yields the most tender bites. Avoid overcooking to keep the steak juicy.
  5. Final Touches: Once cooked, remove the steak bites. Optionally, transfer the cooking liquid to a saucepan and simmer to reduce and thicken into a richer sauce to pour over the steak bites before serving.

Notes

  • Use tender cuts like sirloin or ribeye for best results.
  • Searing the steak is optional but adds deeper flavor and better texture.
  • Adjust cooking times based on crockpot temperature settings to avoid overcooking.
  • Reduce cooking liquid in a pan to create a thicker sauce if desired.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container refrigerated up to 3 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
  • Reheat gently in a skillet or microwave to prevent drying out the meat.
