Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 200g thinly sliced beef strips
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 200g egg noodles

Sauce Ingredients

  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • ½ cup water or broth
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water (cornstarch slurry)

Seasoning

  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • Oil for cooking (vegetable or canola)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the noodles and broccoli: Boil the egg noodles according to package instructions until just al dente, then drain and set aside. Steam or blanch the broccoli florets until bright green and tender-crisp to keep their crunch and color.
  2. Cook the beef: Heat oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Season the beef strips lightly with salt and pepper. Stir-fry the beef for 3 to 5 minutes until browned and just cooked through. Remove from the pan and set aside.
  3. Make the sauce: In the same pan, add minced garlic and grated ginger. Sauté briefly until fragrant. Pour in the soy sauce, brown sugar, and water or broth, stirring to combine. Whisk in the cornstarch slurry to thicken the sauce evenly.
  4. Combine all ingredients: Return the cooked beef and broccoli to the skillet, tossing everything together with the sauce. Add the cooked noodles, stirring thoroughly to coat the noodles and veggies in the flavorful sauce. Finish with a drizzle of sesame oil for a nutty, aromatic touch.

Notes

  • Freeze the beef for 15 minutes before slicing to achieve thin, uniform cuts.
  • Avoid overcooking the broccoli to maintain its crisp texture and nutrition.
  • Prepare all ingredients ahead of time for smooth and quick cooking.
  • Use high heat during stir-frying for a good sear on the beef and to avoid mushy noodles.
  • Adjust sauce thickness by adding more cornstarch slurry for thickness or more water for a saucier dish.
