Ingredients

Puff Pastry Base

  • Crispy bacon strips, cooked and chopped (6 slices)
  • Fresh herbs (parsley or chives, finely chopped) – optional (2 tbsp)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Puff Pastry: Thaw the puff pastry sheets according to the package instructions. Roll them out gently on a lightly floured surface to smooth any creases and create an even base for the filling.
  2. Cook the Bacon: Fry the bacon strips until crispy. Drain on paper towels, then chop into small pieces for even distribution inside the puffs.
  3. Mix the Cheese Filling: Combine the shredded sharp cheddar cheese with the chopped bacon. Optionally, add finely chopped fresh herbs like parsley or chives to the mixture for added flavor and color.
  4. Assemble the Puffs: Cut the rolled-out puff pastry into approximately 3-inch squares. Place a spoonful of the cheese and bacon mixture in the center of each square. Fold the corners or edges together to form puffs and gently press the edges to seal tightly.
  5. Apply Egg Wash and Bake: Brush the tops of the puffs with the beaten egg to achieve a golden, shiny finish. Arrange the puffs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for 12-15 minutes or until the puffs are golden brown and puffed.
