Alabama Firecrackers

Alabama Firecrackers are spicy, bacon-wrapped jalapeño snacks stuffed with a creamy blend of cream cheese, cheddar, ranch seasoning, and hot sauce, delivering a perfect balance of heat, crunch, and smoky flavor. Ideal for game day, parties, or as a fiery appetizer, they can be customized for heat level and dietary preferences.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • Fresh Jalapeños – 10-12 medium-sized
  • Cream Cheese – 8 oz (softened)
  • Cheddar Cheese – 1 cup shredded
  • Bacon – 10-12 strips
  • Hot Sauce – 2 tablespoons (adjust to taste)
  • Ranch Seasoning – 1 tablespoon

Coating & Frying

  • Flour or Crackers (gluten-free flour or crushed crackers for gluten-free) – 1 cup for coating
  • Vegetable Oil – 2-3 cups for frying

Instructions

  1. Prep the Jalapeños: Wash and slice the jalapeños in half lengthwise. Remove seeds carefully if you want to reduce the heat, or leave some seeds for extra spice and texture.
  2. Mix the Filling: In a bowl, combine softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, ranch seasoning, and hot sauce until smooth and well blended to create a creamy, spicy filling.
  3. Stuff the Jalapeños: Generously fill each jalapeño half with the cheese mixture, packing it carefully but not overfilling to prevent spilling during cooking.
  4. Wrap With Bacon: Wrap each stuffed jalapeño half tightly with a strip of bacon, securing it well. Use toothpicks if necessary to hold the bacon in place during cooking.
  5. Coat and Fry: Lightly coat each wrapped jalapeño in your choice of flour or crushed crackers. Heat vegetable oil to 350°F and fry the Alabama Firecrackers until the bacon is crispy and the exterior is golden brown.
  6. Drain and Serve: Remove from oil and place on paper towels to drain excess grease. Serve hot for maximum crunch and flavor.

Notes

  • Pick fresh, firm, bright green jalapeños for best texture and flavor.
  • Don’t overfill with cheese filling to prevent leaking during cooking.
  • Secure bacon with toothpicks if needed to keep it in place when frying.
  • Adjust hot sauce and jalapeño seeds to control spiciness.
  • Maintain frying oil temperature around 350°F for even cooking and avoiding burnt bacon.
